Flex Power Modules increase the DC/DC rating of the quarter brick to 1600 watts continuously with a peak of 2320 watts
Flex Power Modules has introduced a new device for its line of quarter-brick non-isolated DC/DC converters that takes power density to new levels. The BMR351 has an input range of 40-60V and provides a non-isolated but fully regulated 12.2V output rating. Rated output current is 136 A continuous current (Max. 1600 W) and 200 A peak, up to 500 ms (Max. 2320 W). The converter has an extremely high efficiency level with a peak value of over 98% and a typical value of 97.8% at 54Vin and half-load.
The BMR351 converter can be shunt in parallel using vertical flow load sharing technology for higher power, and includes a PMBus interface for configuration, monitoring and control, with output adjustable in the range of 8V to 13.2V, providing hardware pins for remote induction, good power supply and remote control. Flexible power modules innovative "black box" event data recorders are also implemented for diagnosis after failure occurs.
BMR351 is used for base plate cooling. It is characterized by a hot spot temperature of 125℃. Comprehensive thermal management allows safe peak-power operation, with fast and timed overtemperature protection, and an ALERT signal to indicate impending thermal shutdowns. As with other Flex Power Modules DC/DC products, the data is represented in a "3D "derating plot that describes the power output of the component, defining the allowable power output at a specified maximum base and pin temperature. The converter also includes input undervoltage locking and output short-circuit, overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
The BMR351 is powered by the Flex Power Designer tool for electrical and thermal simulation of end-use applications, commented Olle Hellgren, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Flex Power Modules: "Our BMR351 is ideal for applications requiring maximum power density and high peak power ratings, such as in server and cloud applications.
