Lattice Semiconductor announced that it has shipped more than 20 million programmable mixed-signal devices. The adoption of major mixed-signal device families is growing globally, including Lattice Power Manager II, the newly released Platform Manager™, and the ispClock™ family. Lattice programmable mixed-signal devices can be used in a variety of applications, from low-cost solid-state drives to complex, high-end telecommunications infrastructure cards.

     Lattice Semiconductor announced that it has shipped more than 20 million programmable mixed-signal devices. The adoption of major mixed-signal  device families is growing globally, including Lattice Power Manager II, the newly released Platform Manager™, and the ispClock™ family. Lattice programmable mixed-signal devices can be used in a variety of applications, from low-cost solid-state drives to complex, high-end telecommunications infrastructure cards.

     The Power Manager family is Lattice's first programmable mixed-signal device family. For customer integration and true "management" needs, Lattice defines the industry's first PLD-based flexible power management system: a fully integrated device provides a solution that integrates hot-swap controllers, voltage monitors, reset generators and timing ics into a single chip, cheaper and more accurate than other solutions.

     As board control functions become more popular among the company's broad customer base, Lattice developed the Platform Manager family to expand power management capabilities to include power and digital management in single-chip solutions. The Platform Manager device supports all Power Manager II features. Integrated features enable fast response times for Power Manage devices and enable fault logging applications to capture initial errors. Failure logging with discrete integrated circuits or microprocessors is too slow to capture the initial situation, making troubleshooting difficult.

     Due to the increasing complexity of SOCs, efficient clock management becomes more difficult. To address this challenge, Lattice has created the ispClock family, a mixed-signal standard clock network solution device that fully integrates a clock generator and clock allocation to provide a low-cost programmable offset solution. Lattice's single-chip ispClock devices replace a wide variety of clock tracking layouts for zero-delay buffers, fan-out buffers, termination resistors, delay lines, and zigzag lines. Lattice's ispClock devices can be programmed in the system, generate multiple clock frequencies, compensate for differences in each output caused by the length of the clock track, precisely match the impedance of the track, and drive clock networks with different signaling requirements.

     "We use all available resources on the Power Manager POWR1014A device, from the on-board ADC to the MOSFET driver," Wayne Kuei, Director of Research and Development at Advantech, said, "The Power Manager device helps us achieve our goal of reducing cost, stability, functionality and simplifying components with fewer materials and more cost effective components. "

     Shyam Chandra, mixed-signal Solutions Manager at Lattice, said: "Customers are finding that they can easily improve the reliability of their systems while reducing costs. System reliability is no longer limited by the time and cost constraints of designing power supplies and platform management. Our integrated solutions address many system issues that can often be traced back to the neglected details of power management. "
