Lattice launches LatticeECP3™ FPGA series mini package device

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation announced the availability of low-power, high-speed, and mini-package devices added to the highly successful LatticeECP3™FPGA family. The new value-added devices are ideal for power - and space-constrained professional cameras, surveillance cameras, medical imaging, video communications, and small-size wired and wireless applications. LatticeECP3 low-power FPGas consume 30% less power than standard devices and operate 10% faster than high-speed FPgas.

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation announced the availability of low-power, high-speed, and mini-package devices added to the highly successful LatticeECP3™FPGA family. The new value-added devices are ideal for power - and space-constrained professional cameras, surveillance cameras, medical imaging, video communications, and small-size wired and wireless applications. LatticeECP3 low-power FPGas consume 30% less power than standard devices and operate 10% faster than high-speed FPgas. The new family also includes the industry's smallest FPgas with high-speed SERDES, DDR3 memory interfaces. Mini FPGas with SERDES are 66% smaller than standard LatticeECP3 devices with the same logic functionality.

Low power, mid-range FPGas with SERDES and DDR3 interfaces

The new low-power device has a 40% reduction in static power consumption compared to standard LatticeECP3 devices. Total power consumption is reduced by up to 30% compared to comparable mid-range FPGA competitors. Lattice Semiconductor offers a low-power version for each member of the LatticeECP3 family. It includes low-power versions of each existing speed class (-6L, -7L, -8L) and "commercial" and "industrial" temperature classes. LatticeECP3's low-power device is the industry's lowest-power mid-range FPGA with high-quality 3.2G SERDES and high-speed DDR3 memory interfaces. They give designers the flexibility to adopt FPGas for professional consumer electronics, communications, and video applications with limited power budgets.

The industry's smallest FPGA with SERDES for compact products

Lattice also announced the industry's smallest FPGA with 3.2G high-speed SERDES and 800 Mbps DDR3 memory interfaces. A 10mmx10mm device with a 17K LUT and 116 user inputs/outputs is 66% smaller than the current LatticeECP3 FPGA of the same logical density. Mini FPGas with SERDES are ideal for space-constrained applications that need to process high-speed video and Internet data. The LatticeECP3 Mini FPGA is available in three speed classes (-6, -7, -8), two power classes (standard and low power), and two temperature classes (" Commercial "and" Industrial "). These "mini" FPgas will allow designers across industries to build embedded systems that are limited in size, weight, power, and cost (SWAP-C).

High-speed, mid-range FPgas for complex designs

The LatticeECP3 high-speed device is 10% faster than the current LatticeECP3 FPGA, the highest speed class (-8). High-speed (-9) devices are available in the four members of the LatticeECP3 family (35K, 70K, 95K and 150KLUT FPgas) in "commercial" and "industrial" temperature grades. These high-speed devices will enable designers to route complex FPGA designs with specific application or critical path timing requirements that standard devices cannot meet.
