Ultra-low I(Q) synchronous step-down DC/DC controller
Texas Instruments LM5149/ LM5149-Q1 Synchronous step-down DC-DC controller is an 80V, ultra-low I(Q) synchronous step-down DC/DC controller suitable for high-current, single-output applications. The controller uses a peak current mode control architecture for easy loop compensation, fast transient response, and excellent load and line regulation. The LM5149/ LM5149-Q1 can be set to dual-phase mode for precise current sharing and is suitable for high-current applications. If needed, the device can operate at V(IN) as low as 3.5V, almost 100%.
The LM5149/ LM5149-Q1 features two unique EMI reduction features: an active EMI filter and a dual random spread spectrum (DRSS). An active EMI filter senses any noise or ripple voltage on the DC input bus and injects a phase-out canceling signal to reduce interference. DRSS combines low frequency triangles with high frequency random modulation to mitigate low and high frequency EMI. This hybrid technology is consistent with the multi-resolution bandwidth (RBW) Settings specified in industry-standard EMC testing.
Additional features of the LM5149/ LM5149-Q1 include a maximum junction temperature operation of 150°C, user-selectable diode emulation to reduce current consumption under light load conditions, and a leak power good sign for fault reporting and output monitoring. It includes a precision enable input, monotone startup into pre-biased load, integrated V(CC) biased power regulator and bootstrap diode, internal 3ms soft startup time, and thermal shutdown protection with automatic recovery.
The TI LM5149/ LM5149-Q1 controller comes in a 3.5mm × 5.5mm thermal enhanced 24-pin VQFN package with wettable side pins for easy optical inspection during manufacturing. The LM5149-Q1 component is certified for AEC-Q100 automotive applications
